About CSSG

The Cambridgeshire Self Sufficiency Group was started by a few like minded people in 2010.

Our members' resources range from a postage stamp garden or window box to those with several acres, but the aim is the same - to be a little more Self Sufficient!

The CSSG Year

Cambridgeshire Self Sufficiency Group meets on the first Thursday of every month. During the winter months we usually meet at the King Edward Community Centre in Chatteris.

We try to have a varied programme of speakers covering topics from beer making to bee keeping and the history of allotments to basket making. Ideas for speakers are always welcome!

In the Summer months we go out and about and visit members homes and gardens or other venues of interest.

We try and hold workshops during the year, this could be about hedgelaying, basket making, sausage making or even Fungi hunting!

Other Events

We try to visit various local shows and open days to promote our group and our aims.

Once a year we hold a 'Potato Day' this is open to everyone, and you are able to purchase seed potatoes at a very reasonable price (far cheaper than in the shops!). We aim to have a range of over 40 varieties from the more popular types to some of the more unusual.

The Newsletter is produced every month with articles and pictures contributed by members and the editor  Anne Billings-Smith the Editor always welcomes items for inclusion, you can contact her at cssgnews@gmail.com and you can read some past newsletters on our website by clicking HERE!
